ELL Unit Planner Template

Our teachers use English Language Learner (ELL) Unit Planners to implement the curriculum through the use of academic vocabulary, graphic organizers and modelling. It allows teachers to be mindful of their student needs and assessment methods.

The Google Docs ELL Unit Planner is the current planner that Almadina is using. The ELL Unit Planner contains Alberta Education’s implementation of ELL proficiency benchmarks for ELL students. The benchmarks are used to assess a student’s English language proficiency. It also includes types of assessment (formative, summative or benchmark) and the target instructional ELL benchmark levels.

Through using the Google Docs platform, teachers can now easily share and collaboratively work on units together without being in the same place and avoiding duplication or multiple copies. The nature of this live document allows for continuous and ongoing real time document changes which can be viewed by anyone it is shared with.
