During the month of October, Teacher’s PET visited the Grade Three students to introduce the four world communities of Peru, India, Ukraine and Tunisia in their Social Studies unit. The students applied their mapping skills by identifying each country’s location in relation to Canada’s location. The students “flew” around to each destination to explore their unique geography, celebrations, traditions, and so much more! The Grade Three students discovered traditional Ukrainian folktales and practiced Peruvian string games. They inquired about and created lanterns from India’s Diwali festival. The students explored the traditional Souk and underground houses in Tunisia. They observed and named exports from each country. The students even learned how to say thank you in Spanish, Arabic, Ukrainian and Hindi! Our Communities in the World field trip was an exciting, educational experience for all the grade three students. Thank you to our parents who volunteered to be our “travel agents” during our Communities in the World field trip!
