On Thursday, April 12, 2018, Almadina’s Mountain View Campus took part in a Storytelling Festival to celebrate the work of a Fine Arts Grant awarded to the school in 2017.

Under the direction of Storyteller and Musician Jeff Stockton, this festival showcased storytelling performances from all students in ECS to Grade 4. The festival was introduced in the gymnasium by student emcees and began with large group performances by ECS and multi-age storytellers. The animated narration of the original stories, “The Kindergarten Surprise” and “Attack of the Snowthing!!!!” were well received by the audience.

Shortly following these performances, students and parents relocated to various classrooms throughout the school to view individual student presentations. Students performed their stories through various formats, including voice, pictures and technology. Parents were very pleased to see their children acquire a newfound skill of public speaking in an engaging and student-led setting. This performance was a grand accomplishment for students and we are very proud of the growth they’ve demonstrated throughout this experience. The Fine Arts Committee is incredibly thankful to all the students, staff and families who supported the turn out of this event. We are especially grateful to Jeff Stockton for engaging and inspiring our students over these past four months and providing us with the gift of memorable stories for years to come.
