Almadina’s Terry Fox run and fundraiser was a great success this year! During the month of September, our school’s goal was for each student to donate at least a townie towards cancer research. On September 28, Almadina students and staff participated in our annual Terry Fox run. Everyone showed incredible pride and perseverance! Our school truly did its part towards supporting the Terry Fox foundation by raising a total of $956 in donations! Our school’s fundraising prize winners were tied between three students – Samira Fares from 4Z, Mohammed Fares from 3T, and Usman Ahmed from 3V. Congratulations to everyone who won! A special thank you to families, students and staff for making our Terry Fox run and fundraiser another memorable achievement this year!

Terry Fox’s legacy of helping others has inspired Almadina to participate in the annual run for cancer research. Over thirty years ago, Terry Fox showed remarkable strength and perseverance by starting the Marathon of Hope for cancer research. Terry once quoted, “I’ve said to people before that I’m going to do my very best to make it, I’m not going to give up. But I might not make it… if I don’t, the Marathon of Hope better continue.” In fact Terry’s Marathon of Hope inspired our whole country to continue fundraising efforts to help support children, adults and families with cancer. To date, over $700 million has been raised in support of the Terry Fox foundation!
