To culminate our Science unit on Animal Life Cycles, students in Grade 3 enjoyed a visit from Scientists in School to reinforce their learning about animal adaptations and life cycles. They got to explore a variety of different animal specimens, dissected owl pellets to discover bones of real rodents in an owl’s diet, and used microscopes to examine living mites and vinegar worms. To finish it off, students faced their fear of creepy crawlers, and got the chance to hold a real life stick bug! It was a fascinating and memorable learning experience! There is nothing like examining the real thing to help us understanding animals and how they grow, change, and adapt to survive!
