Almadina Gives Back

CIBC Run For the Cure 2017

Almadina Mountain View Campus Staff and Joan Oria from the central office participated in this year’s Canadian Cancer Society CIBC Run for the Cure to benefit the breast cancer cause on October 1, 2017. We ran in honor of all the incredible women in our lives who, passed away with this deadly disease and some who were brave enough to challenge it and fight it. Almadina Team is proud to give back by raising $846.00 this year.

Almadina at the Alberta Iqra Arabic Conference

Almadina is proud to be involved with the Alberta Iqra Arabic Conference in Kananaskis Country on March 30th, 2017. Thank you to our International Language teachers who are representing Almadina at this incredible conference! For teachers, scholars and educational assistants interested or involved in the teaching of Arabic, topics will include:

  • Literacy in the Arabic language
  • Classroom approaches to language acquisition
  • Socio-cultural approaches to language acquisition
  • Second language maintenance and transfer
  • Arabic language curriculum development
  • Language socialization and identity

CIBC Run for the Cure 2016

Members of the Almadina staff participated in raising money and running in Run for the Cure. Together, they raised $1867.30 for Breast Cancer Research. Thank you for your support!

Almadina’s 20th Anniversary Celebration

O20_years_awardn Saturday, September 24th Almadina Language Charter Academy proudly celebrated our 20th year anniversary! The event was a tremendous success because of an overwhelming turnout from our Almadina Alumni, our current Almadina Family and because of the extraordinary effort from many volunteers. We are honoured that many of you joined us for this wonderful celebration and wish to thank you for supporting our school and the community it represents. We are especially honoured by the presence of Minister of Education, Honourable David Eggen, Minister of Human Services, Honourable Irfan Sabir, Minister of Finance, Honourable Joe Ceci and MLA for Calgary-East, Ms. Robyn Luff. Almadina Board of Directors Annual BBQ

The Almadina Board of Directors annual BBQ was very successful again this year. The weather was outstanding and over 1,000 people came out to celebrate. This is the third year that Almadina has held this community BBQ. This event celebrates the diverse, unique cultures and languages at Almadina while celebrating our unity. The School Council, our board, the administration and staff worked together to make this remarkable event happen.

We want to thank MLA Robyn Luff, Beverly Barca from Alberta Education and Senator in waiting, Mike Shaikh.

Terry Fox Event

Ogden’s Terry Fox Goals

Ogden is raising money at school. Please send money with your child to give to their teacher.

There will be an exciting PIE THROWING event if we meet our goals. If we raise…

  • $100 = 1 student will pie a teacher
  • $300 = 3 students will pie 3 teachers
  • $600 = 6 students will pie 6 teachers
  • $900 = 9 students will pie 9 teachers
  • $1200 = 12 students will pie 12 teachers

Also, if a student donates $2, they will receive a temporary tattoo and a special support sticker where they can honor who they are running for. A donation of $2 or more will enter a student into a draw to pie a staff member in the face on the day of the assembly AND be entered  into a draw for a TERRY FOX T-Shirt. To increase your chances, raise more money and earn more tickets! See below:

  • $5 = 2 tickets
  • $10 = 3 tickets
  • $15 = 4 tickets
  • $20 or more = 5 tickets
