Wampum Belts in Grade 6 Social Studies

Mrs. Grant-Suttie's Grade 6 students had the opportunity to learn about Wampum Belts. Wampum beads were used to create patterns on belts. These belts are used as a guide to narrate aboriginal history, traditions and laws.

National Flag Day at Almadina!

On February 15th, students at Almadina were encouraged to wear red and white to celebrate National Flag Day. This is a special day for learning about the importance of the Canadian Flag including its history and symbolism. Grade 5 at the Glenbow

Grade 5 students went on a field trip to the Glenbow museum. While there, they studied historical artifacts and learned more about early life in Canada.

Ahmed Abbas Fundraiser

Each year, the Almadina Language Charter Academy holds a fundraiser in memory of a fellow student, named Ahmed Abbas, who passed away in 2010. Students are tasked with seeking donations from friends and family to add to their class collection. At the end of the campaign, the students from each class that raise the most
